Our Story
A Club Built on Friendship
The Metropolitan Society was founded in 1994 to celebrate fine cigars, food, wine and spirits, and above all the friendships that grow around them.
More than three decades later, “Metro” remains a private, member-run club in Fairfield, New Jersey: 4,200 square feet where you can light up, settle in, and be among people who share the passion.

The club is governed by a Board of Directors and its members. New members are reviewed by a membership committee.

Bring your own cigars and your own spirits (we don't sell either), and make yourself at home.
Life at the Club
Every Night Is Different
Weeknights in the Lounge with the game on. Quiet afternoons of work with Wi-Fi throughout. Catered cigar dinners in the La Cubana Room, often with guest presenters from cigar and spirits brands. Then there are golf outings, holiday parties, comedy nights and the annual members' picnic.

Throughout the club you'll find oversized leather chairs, room to spread out, and the kind of company that makes an hour turn into an evening.

The heart of the club. Settle in for conversation or catch the game on one of two 65″ TVs.
Unwind
The Quiet Room
A calmer retreat for entertaining a client, reading, or getting some work done.
Dine & Host
La Cubana Room
Our most versatile space. Day to day it adds lounge seating and three 48″ tables for working or meeting. On dinner nights it becomes a banquet room seating up to 80, hosting catered cigar dinners with guest presenters from cigar and beverage brands. It's also available for private events →
Preserve
The Walk-In Humidor & Lockers
The cornerstone of the Society. Step through the stained-glass door into a sealed room of 190 lockers, each with a custom oak door and its own key, held at a constant 70°F and 70% humidity. It's the one room in the club where smoking isn't allowed.

Games & Cards
Chess, backgammon, dominoes and card tables, ready whenever you want a game.
The Comforts
- Secure Wi-Fi throughout the club
- Multiple TVs
- Kitchen galley with commercial ice machine, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and Keurig
- Soda and snack vending
Bring Your Own Cigars and Bring Your Own Spirits. The Metro doesn't sell either. Label your bottle or keep it in your locker.
